Florida Woman Arrested For Alleged Theft Of Debit Card

At around 1 PM yesterday, an officer with the Hot Springs Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Central Avenue in response to a reckless driver.  The vehicle, a white Acura, which was reported by police to have a stolen license plate, was stopped in the 300 block of West Grand.   The license plate was confirmed by police to be stolen out of Little Rock.  The driver, later identified as, 37 year old, Tiffany Lazure, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was removed from the vehicle.  While officers attempted to confirm Lazure’s identification, they were notified by U.S. Bank that a white female in an Acura had attempted a forgery.  The woman had allegedly attempted to use another woman’s driver’s license and debit card at the bank.  The woman’s actions raised the suspicions of bank personnel resulting in the woman panicking and fleeing, leaving the driver’s license and debit card behind.  According to the report, the account had been frozen after the owner reported the debit card stolen.  A representative from the bank was transported to the location that Lazure had been pulled over and positively identified her as the person that had been in the bank and in possession of the debit card.  Lazure was charged with a felony count of theft by receiving, a credit card and a misdemeanor count of theft by receiving, under $500.  Lazure reportedly had a previous felony conviction out of Broward County Florida.

One Of Two Suspects Arrested After Alleged Break-in

According to a report from the Hot Springs Police Department, a Hot Springs man said that two black males entered his residence yesterday morning by forcing open the front door.  The victim told police that he awoke to find the men in his bedroom.  The victim reported that he knew one of the suspects as “Alvin” who lived at 122 Chitwood Street.  An officer with the department went to the address and made contact with the resident, identified as, 22 year old, Allan Michael Sherman with the victim transported to the address.  Police said the victim positively identified Sherman as one of the men that was in his apartment.  Sherman was arrested and charged with Criminal Attempt at Residential Burglary, a class “C” felony and Criminal Mischief, a class “A” misdemeanor.  Sherman was being held on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Hot Springs District Court on September 28th.  Sherman reportedly has a previous felony conviction from earlier this year in which he was sentenced to 5 years probation.

Man Alleges Attack By Known Female Suspect

A 30 year old Hot Springs man reported to the Garland County Sheriff’s Department that a known 30 year old female suspect allegedly busted out the front window and entered his home early yesterday.  The victim told police that the incident happened at around 6:25 AM with the woman coming in a starting a fight with him.  According to the report, the woman was in possession of a knife and is alleged to have cut the man on the face.  The victim told police that the suspect then hit him with a pipe knocking him unconscious.   When the man came to, he reported taking a drink from a soft drink bottle that he kept by the bed and believed the woman had put drugs in it.  A urine drug test performed on the victim reportedly showed a positive reaction for drugs in his system.  The suspect in the incident is alleged to have taken the man’s wallet when she fled the scene.

Taxi Driver Robbed

The Garland County Sheriff’s Department says that a 32 year old, Hot Springs Taxi driver reported being robbed over the weekend.  The victim told sheriff’s deputies that he picked up a man at just after 2 AM Saturday morning and when he arrived at the destination, the suspect hit him from behind and cut him behind the ear with what was believed to be a small knife.  The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’ 8” tall with a slender build, brown hair cut in a short style and a mustache.  The suspect reportedly took cash from the victim and fled into the woods in the Arnett Place and Arnett Circle area.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Garland County Sheriff’s Department.

Couple Trading Sex For Drugs Results In Attack

The Hot Springs Police Department reports that officers responded to Baxter and Thornton Streets Saturday morning at approximately 5 AM  to a report of a 1st degree battery.   According to the report, a 47 year old Hot Springs woman advised that she and her 54 year old husband were at a house in the 300 block of Thornton with a suspect described  as, a bald, black male known only as Jeff.  The woman told police that there was no electricity in the house and the two had gone there for the woman to trade sex for crack cocaine.  The woman reportedly changed her mind and attempted to leave with the suspect allegedly retrieving a knife out of his pocket and cutting the woman across her back and her husband on the right side of his chest.  The two were able to escape from the suspect and call police.  A Hot Springs police officer reportedly observed severe blood loss to the man caused from a large cut to the chest area.  The officer also reported following a blood trail to the 300 block of Thornton where it turned up a gravel drive to a house where the attack occurred.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hot Springs Police Department.

HS Man Alleged To Have Had Sexual Contact With 3 Year Old Daughter

A report from the Hot Springs Police Department says that a 26 year old Hot Springs man is alleged to have had sexual contact with his three year old daughter.   According to police, the child’s mother reported to police on August 4th that she believed the child was molested by the child’s father.  She said that her daughter and 5 year old son were returned after a visitation with the father, who is identified as, 26 year old, Chad Clark Kennedy, who lists an address of 105 April Lane.  The report stated that the child was interviewed at the Mercy Child Advocacy Center on August 5th with the child disclosing sexual contact by Kennedy.   The girl’s 5 year old brother was interviewed the following day and allegedly gave similar information to case workers.  Kennedy was arrested yesterday at just before 1 PM and charged with 2nd degree sexual assault, a class “B” felony.  Kennedy was being held on $25,000 bond.  His court date is scheduled for September 21st in Hot Springs District Court.

HS Man Arrested by GCSO Deputies Now Faces Charges Filed By HSPD

A Hot Springs man arrested by Garland County Sheriff’s Deputies after an automobile accident on Old Bear Road August 27th in which numerous stolen items were recovered, now faces more charges filed by Hot Springs police.  28 year old, Joshua Shane Bean, who lists an address of 207 Jerome Street, has been charged with two counts of breaking or entering, a class “D” felony in relation to vehicles being broken into August 21st while at Oaklawn Racing and Gaming on Central Avenue.  Hot Springs police say that Bean was interviewed yesterday and signed a statement admitting to the break-ins.   Bean was also charged with one count of theft by receiving , a class “A” misdemeanor for the theft of a car stereo from a vehicle at the Albert Pike location of Wal Mart.  Police say a security video showed a vehicle license plate that came back as being registered to Bean.  Bean also faces charges of residential burglary and theft of property, both class “B” felonies in relation to items recovered from his vehicle after the collision on Old Bear Road.  Bean also faces addition charges filed by the Garland County Sheriff’s Department.

HS Man Robbed At Knifepoint and Locked In Closet

The Hot Springs Police Department says that a 34 year old Hot Springs man reported that his residence on Woodlawn was broken into at around 3 AM yesterday morning with the assailant robbing him at knife point.  According to the report, the victim told police that he was awakened by a loud noise and as he went to investigate, found a man standing in his living room.  The suspect reportedly held a knife to the victim’s throat, tied his hands and forced him into a bedroom closet, pushing the bed against the door to keep the victim from escaping.  Police said that the victim escaped after about twenty minutes and found a number of items missing including a TV, a cell phone and a CD player from his automobile.  Police say that the front door of the residence had been forced open.

Woman Charged After Allegedly Leaving Scene Of Accident

A Hot Springs woman was arrested by Hot Springs police last night at just after 10 PM after allegedly leaving the scene of an injury accident.  The accident happened at Airport Road and the expressway in Hot Springs with an HSPD officer observing a Toyota van fleeing the scene.  The vehicle was stopped at 1040 Airport Road with the officer making contact with the driver, identified as, 31 year old, Stephanie L. Scott, of 325 Mote Street.  Scott allegedly denied that she had been involved in the accident but police reported extensive damage to the front of Scott’s vehicle, a deployed driver’s side airbag and a cloud of dust inside the vehicle as a result of the airbag deployment.  Three children, ages 8, 9 and 5 reported to have been in the vehicle were said to be yelling and screaming that they wanted out of the van and wanted to go with the officer.  Scott was given a field sobriety test and then arrested.  Scott allegedly refused to take a breath test upon arrival at the Garland County Sheriff’s Office.  Scott was charged with a misdemeanor charge of DUI #2, leaving the scene of an injury accident, a class “D” felony, 3 counts of 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a minor, a class “A” misdemeanor and refusal to submit.  Scott’s bail was set at $7,000.  The individuals that Scott allegedly struck were transported to a local hospital for treatment.  Their condition is not known.

Woman Arrested On Drug Charges

An officer with the Hot Springs Police Department responded to 1620 Albert Pike at around 9:15 AM yesterday morning in reference to a possible disturbance.  On the scene, the officer came in contact with 42 year old, Stacy Ann McGuffin, who lists an address of 107 Dahlia.  The officer was advised through dispatch that McGuffin had a valid arrest warrant through Sevier County and they would extradite her.  McGuffin was placed in custody and in a search, incident to arrest, the officer allegedly located a small plastic baggy in her purse containing a dingy white colored substance believed to be methamphetamine.  The substance was field tested and produced a positive reaction for the presumptive identification of meth.  McGuffin was charged with possession of a controlled substance, meth, a class “C” felony.  She was being held on $3,500 bail with a court date set for September 21st in Hot Springs District Court. McGuffin is reported to have had a previous felony conviction in Sevier County in 2008.
